What This Visit Covers
A pain management evaluation typically includes a review of your pain history, prior treatments, imaging or test results you can share, and how your pain is affecting daily life. Based on an appropriate evaluation, this may include non-controlled medication management when clinically appropriate, guidance on non-medication approaches, or a referral to a pain specialist, physical therapy, or in-person diagnostic testing.
Important Information About Controlled Substances
Certain medications, including controlled substances such as opioids, cannot be prescribed through a virtual-only evaluation and require an in-person examination under federal and New York State law. If your care requires this type of medication, Dr. Ahmed will refer you to appropriate in-person care.
When In-Person Care Is Needed
Some pain conditions — including new, severe, or rapidly worsening pain — require in-person evaluation rather than a virtual visit. Dr. Ahmed will let you know if your situation calls for in-person or emergency care.
Insurance & Cost
We may accept a range of major New York insurance plans, including Medicare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Emblem Health, United Healthcare, Oscar Health, Humana, and more. Coverage, network status, eligibility, and benefits vary by plan and should be verified with our office before your visit. Self-pay is not currently offered.
